Inter-university program with its administrative center at the VUB. The universities of Brussels, Louvain, Ghent and Antwerp collaborate. It is the only program in Flanders that provides a formation of archivists-document managers on a university level. The program consists of four components: mandatory courses, electives, an intership (with a minimum of 300 hours) and a dissertation. Mandatory courses are taught in Brussels, the electives can also be attended at the other participating universities.

This program forms students as policy makers, art managers, curators and conservators. The program has a strong international character, with 70% foreign students. Furthermore, students can choose an internship (10 study points) in the Netherlands or abroad.

In the History Master program, the specialization Public History offers a selected number of students a formation during which theoretical courses are combined with a comprehensive internship. The program consists of a couple of mandatory and optional courses (30 study points), an internship (12 study points) and a master's thesis connected to the internship (18 study points).

In this two year master program, students complete the regular master in the first year and take up the specialized Public History program in the second year. The program consists of theoretical courses and practical courses supervized by public historians from the field. From February to June, students engage in an internship and write a master's thesis related to their internship (30 study points).

This formation in public history combines theoretical reflections with small-scale practical projects and an internship of eight weeks. The focus is put on the dissemination of modern history in general and 20th century contemporary history more specifically. The master's thesis can be purely academic, but also project related.

This program was founded in 2015 and focuses on public history. Students gain knowledge and skills in communicating history to the broad public, using different media. The University of Ghent has an Erasmus agreement with Universität zu Köln.

This intensive twelve month training combines practical experience with theory and historical research on a master level. This is why both theoretical and practical courses are comprised and combined with a three month internship during summer. The program strives to collaborate as much as possible with partners from the local community in order to develop actual projects throughout the program. An important component of the training is Digital History. For this, the university offers students a very well equipped Digital Lab.

The program offers both traditional academic courses that focus on theoretical history, historiography and historical research as specialized courses concerning public history. In the summer between the first and the second year, students complete a paid internship.  Ultimately, students write a classic master's dissertation that deals with a topic related to public history. Students have the option to specialize in Digital Humanities, but an application is required for this.

United States
